US President Donald Trump said he is ready to impose new sanctions against Russia, but is still going to “talk to Putin,” "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Answering journalists’ questions about the possibility of imposing sanctions against Russia and punishing Russian President Vladimir Putin for violating the agreements, Trump gave a clear answer.
“I’m ready.”

However, in addition to the sanctions pressure, the US President also announced his intention to hold regular telephone talks with the Russian dictator in the near future.

– Trump said when asked about his upcoming conversation with Putin. It is worth noting that the American leader made a similar statement on September 5.
However, the Kremlin has not yet confirmed information about preparations for such a conversation. On the same day, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the Russian side had not received an official request from the United States to organize a telephone conversation between Putin and Trump.
In addition, Trump revealed the details of the nearest diplomatic efforts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to him, the leaders of several European countries will visit the United States earlier this week to discuss a peaceful settlement of the war.
“Some European leaders will come to our country on Monday or Tuesday, individually. And I think we will resolve this issue,”

Earlier, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Washington’s intention to continue to increase economic pressure on Moscow, while emphasizing that the U.S. side expects similar actions from its allies in Europe.
These statements were made after the latest shelling of Ukrainian cities, including civilian infrastructure and residential buildings, by Russian troops.
