US President Donald Trump said he wants to minimize human casualties and “save allies” in the war that Russia has unleashed against Ukraine as soon as possible, but the peace process remains extremely difficult. He said this during a briefing broadcast by the White House on YouTube, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The American leader once again emphasized that he has considerable experience in ending military conflicts. According to him, during his political career, he has managed to end eight wars, and he did so not for personal glory.

“I ended wars not for the Nobel Peace Prize. I did it because I wanted to save our allies,” Trump said.

The US president stressed that in most cases such agreements came quite easily to him, and now, according to him, it remains to implement the “last agreement,” meaning the settlement of the war in Ukraine.

What is the main problem with the peace talks?

At the same time, Trump explained why the Ukrainian direction remains the most difficult.

“When Russia is ready, Ukraine is not ready. When Ukraine is ready, Russia is not ready. I am trying to prevent this,” he said.

According to the US president, the lack of synchronized readiness of the parties to compromise is the key obstacle to a quick end to the war.

Human losses

Trump also drew attention to the scale of the tragedy, emphasizing that the war claims thousands of lives every month.

“The average losses in this war are about 25,000 people per month,” he said.

The US president stressed that reducing human casualties and preventing further escalation remain his main goals in his efforts to achieve peace.
