US President Donald Trump has commented on the difference in aid to Ukraine and Israel, emphasizing that there would have been no war under his presidency. Trump said this on CNN, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Trump was asked why the United States does not support Ukraine in its war with Russia as actively as it does with Israel. Answering the journalists, Trump assured them that he was helping Ukraine “a lot,” but at the same time he reiterated that the war would not have started if he had been president.
“I am helping Ukraine. I help it a lot. This is a war that should never have started. If I were president, you wouldn’t have a war with Russia right now,” Trump said.
As a reminder, the day before it became known that the Pentagon had suspended the shipment of American weapons to Ukraine. The department explained this by allegedly lacking its own stocks.
However, according to three U.S. officials, an internal review indicates that the transfer of these weapons will not damage U.S. stockpiles.
Washington sees Israel as a key strategic ally in the Middle East, while Ukraine remains a partner without formal mutual defense commitments.
Israel regularly receives stable, long-term and predictable military and financial assistance from the United States. Instead, support for Ukraine largely depends on the internal political situation in the United States and changes in the US administration.
Recently, the United States has been actively involved in the confrontation with Iran, in particular, as part of its support for Israel in deterring the nuclear threat. The US military is also helping Israel repel missile and drone attacks.
