Trump explains who should guarantee Ukraine’s security

European countries should play a key role in providing security guarantees for Ukraine. This was stated by US President Donald Trump during a press conference, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

At the same time, he confirmed Washington’s readiness to help.

According to Trump, the United States will not abandon its support for Ukraine, but he emphasized the primary role of European partners.

“We will help them. Look, we want to save a lot of lives, so we’re going to do something about it. I think people expect this. We will help them,” Trump said.

At the same time, he emphasized that Europe should be the first to provide guarantees.

“Europe will be the first, and they want to be the first, they want this to end. Europe wants this to end,” the US president said.

Also on that day, Trump said that if the war in Ukraine does not end, “there will be a terrible price to pay.”
