US President Donald Trump said that during the US special forces operation to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro on January 3, a new secret weapon was used, which he called a “discombobulator.” According to Trump, this weapon was crucial in capturing Maduro and in the strikes on Caracas that preceded the operation.
In an interview with The New York Post, he said that the “discombobulator” “rendered [enemy] equipment inoperable.”
“They never got to launch their missiles. They had Russian and Chinese missiles, and none of them worked. We went in, they pressed the buttons, and nothing happened,” the American president said. “This discombobulator… I can’t talk about it,” he added.
This was the president’s response to a request to comment on reports this week that the administration of former President Joe Biden had purchased pulse energy weapons, which were believed to have caused “Havana syndrome.”

A week after the operation, a man who identified himself as Maduro’s bodyguard said that American special forces used unusual weapons against him and his associates, causing something like a “strong sound wave.”
“At some point, they (the Americans) launched something; I don’t know how to describe it. It was like a powerful sound wave. Suddenly, I felt like my head was exploding from the inside. We all had blood coming out of our noses. Some people were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move. We couldn’t even stand up after this sound weapon was used — or whatever it was,” said the eyewitness.
