Trump approves bill on sanctions against Russia, says Graham

US President Donald Trump has backed a bipartisan bill on sanctions against Russia. This was announced by US Senator Lindsey Graham, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“After a very productive meeting today with President Trump on various issues, he gave the green light to a bipartisan bill on sanctions against Russia, which I have been working on for months with Senator Blumenthal and many others,” he said.
According to Graham, this decision by the American leader is very appropriate and timely, because “Ukraine is making concessions for the sake of peace, while Putin only talks, continuing to kill innocent people.”
At the same time, the senator believes that in this way Trump will be able to punish countries that buy cheap Russian oil, financing Putin’s military machine.
“This bill will give President Trump significant leverage over countries such as China, India, and Brazil to encourage them to stop buying cheap Russian oil, which finances Putin’s bloody crackdown on Ukraine,” Graham added.
According to him, Congress may consider the bill as early as next week.
The Graham-Blumenthal bill has bipartisan support, and its passage will enable the US to increase economic pressure on the Kremlin and reduce funding for Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Earlier, it was reported that the European Union plans to adopt a 20th package of sanctions against Russia by the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The new restrictions are intended to increase economic pressure on the Kremlin and affect key sectors of the Russian economy.
The previous, 19th package of sanctions was adopted in October 2025. It affected Russian banks and crypto exchanges, restricted the movement of Russian diplomats, and banned imports of liquefied natural gas.
