Trump sets new deadline for Putin: 10 days from today
30 July 00:19
US President Donald Trump has said that he is giving Russian dictator Vladimir Putin only 10 days to conclude a peace deal with Ukraine. The countdown begins on Tuesday, July 29, he said, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
“10 days from today,” Trump told reporters, referring to August 8 as the deadline.
According to Trump, if Moscow does not demonstrate readiness to conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine by then, the United States will impose secondary tariffs and other economic measures.
He emphasized that he was not sure whether this would affect the Kremlin, but Washington would not wait any longer.
“Putin wants the war to continue. Our tariffs may or may not affect them. I give Putin 10 days, starting today. Then we are going to impose tariffs,” the US president said.
Trump noted that he had already said that the deadline for Russia had been significantly reduced and that it was time to conclude a peace deal. However, after that he did not receive any response from the Kremlin, which Trump called a “disgrace”.
Back in June, Trump promised to give Putin 50 days to end the war with Ukraine. However, on July 28, he revised his position and shortened the deadline to 10 days, saying that he had not received any response from the Kremlin after previous warnings.
The American leader also announced 100% secondary tariffs, which means sanctions not only against Russia, but also against its trading partners and companies that help circumvent the embargo.
The Kremlin has not yet responded to the ultimatum.
