Trump comments on possibility of special operation to capture Putin
10 January 08:41
US leader Donald Trump responded to whether he would be able to carry out a special operation to capture Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, similar to the Venezuelan scenario. The US president hopes that this will not be necessary.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the White House.
After the US special operation in Venezuela in early January and the capture of the country’s president, Nicolas Maduro, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that “if it is possible to (behave) like this with dictators, then the United States of America knows what to do next,” obviously hinting at Putin.
So the journalist asked Trump if a repeat of the Venezuelan scenario was possible, to which he replied:
“I don’t think there will be a need for that. I’ve always had a great relationship with him (Putin). I’m very disappointed,” said the US president.
The White House chief also added that he had “settled eight wars” and thought that Russia’s war against Ukraine would be “one of the easiest.”
“Over the past month, they have lost 31,000 people, many of them Russian soldiers, and the Russian economy is in bad shape,” Trump concluded.
Special operation to arrest Maduro
On January 3, the US launched a series of strikes on Caracas. Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and his wife were detained by special forces and taken to the US, where they were charged with drug trafficking and illegal possession of automatic weapons, which they allegedly planned to use against the US.
Maduro’s trial is currently underway in the US. However, the dictator will not face trial until 2027.
It should be noted that the main reason for the confrontation between the US and Venezuela was the oil fields of American companies, which Caracas nationalized under Maduro’s predecessor, Hugo Chavez.
Therefore, at the beginning of the conflict with Maduro, Trump demanded that the “stolen assets, oil, and land” be returned to the United States, but the Venezuelan dictator ignored these calls.
