Trump claims ‘significant progress’ in ending war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has said that “significant progress” has been made in efforts to end the war in Ukraine. The American leader said this during a summit with the leaders of Central Asian countries held at the White House, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

During the meeting, the head of the White House noted that despite the fact that the war between Ukraine and Russia is still ongoing, there are some progress towards its end.

“We’re not there yet, but I think we’ve made a lot of progress,” Trump said.

He also reminded that during his presidency, “eight wars ended in eight months,” hinting at his own success in resolving international conflicts.

Sanctions against Russian oil

Trump specifically mentioned sanctions pressure on Russia. According to him, after the introduction of restrictions on the Russian oil industry, oil exports from Russia have significantly decreased.

“After the sanctions against the Russian oil industry, exports have dropped significantly,” the US president emphasized.

Who attended the meeting

The summit at the White House was attended by the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of the growing interest of the United States in cooperation with Central Asian countries in the extraction and supply of rare earth materials, which are critical for the production of high-tech products and the defense industry.
