US President Donald Trump has said that he will discuss ending the war in Ukraine at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the White House broadcast.

“One of the topics we will talk about is Russia and Ukraine,” he said.

According to Trump, he would like China to help the US side with Russia. The head of the White House explained that the US administration has imposed large-scale sanctions against Moscow and Washington wants the Chinese side to help in this context.

“Well, I would really like China to help us with Russia. We have imposed very large sanctions on Russia. I think these sanctions… they are very tough. They are very strong. But I would like China to help us. As you know, I have a good relationship with President Xi… we are going to meet. We are going to have a good meeting… I think we will make some good deals. One of the issues… – is the relationship between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump said.

He added that 7,000 people are killed every week in this war, emphasizing that “we will definitely discuss this.”

“He (Xi Jinping – ed.) also wants it to end,” the US president said.

Trump was also asked if he was afraid that the recent US sanctions were too strong and would back Putin into a corner.

“No, I don’t think so. We’ll see what happens. I think he wants the war to end,” Trump replied.

As a reminder, in mid-October, U.S. President Donald Trump had another phone conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. The main topic of their conversation was the war in Ukraine.

After this conversation, Trump announced the preparation of a new summit of leaders, which this time was to take place in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.

Preparations began, but soon came to an abrupt halt. President Trump later officially confirmed the cancellation of the meeting.
