Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize over Iran-Israel deal

For the second time in recent days, US President Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because of his involvement in resolving military conflicts. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Fox News.

The representative of the Republican Party in Congress, Buddy Carter, appealed to the Nobel Committee to recognize the “extraordinary historical role” Trump in ending the war between Iran and Israel.

The parliamentarian emphasized that thanks to the head of the White House, “the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism did not receive the most lethal possible weapon on the planet.”

“President Trump’s influence played a key role in quickly reaching an agreement that many thought was impossible. President Trump has also taken bold, decisive action to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism remains unable to acquire nuclear weapons,” Carter wrote in his letter.

He said that Trump’s leadership during the crisis “embodies the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the promotion of international harmony. In a region plagued by historical animosity and political instability, such a breakthrough requires both courage and clarity.”

Earlier, the government of Pakistan, whose conflict with India also did not go without American diplomatic intervention, announced Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

This is not the first time Trump has been nominated for the prize, although he has not yet won.

House member Darrell Issa, a California Republican, nominated Trump for the prize earlier this year, arguing that his victory in the 2024 election had a “surprisingly effective impact” on world peace.

According to the Nobel website, there are currently 338 candidates for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.
