Three documents with different names and fleeing the scene: what is known about the death of a banker in Milan
29 January 21:01
In Italy, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 54-year-old Ukrainian banker Oleksandr Adarich, who was found dead in central Milan. Local law enforcement officials do not rule out the possibility that the man may have already been dead when he fell from the window.
This was reported by Italian publications La Repubblica and La Stampa, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
What is known about the banker’s last day
According to media reports, Adarich arrived in Milan from Spain on the morning of January 23. It is reported that he planned a short visit to conclude a deal, which sources describe as “secret,” after which he was to return the same day.
The meeting took place in an apartment on Via Nerino, in the historic center of the city. According to investigators, it was there that the events leading to the Ukrainian’s death took place.
The investigation’s version
Law enforcement officials suggest that the man fell out of a window, but at the time of the fall, he may have already been dead.
Traces were found on the body of the deceased that may indicate that he had been tied up. Investigators are also considering the possibility that he may have been beaten, which could have led to his death even before the fall.
The official conclusions of the forensic medical examination have not yet been made public.
Eyewitness accounts and camera recordings
The building’s concierge said she heard the sound of a body falling, after which she saw the shadow of a man in the apartment window. According to her, the unknown man later came downstairs, asked in English what had happened, and left the scene.
CCTV cameras in the building and the surrounding area recorded at least two people leaving the area shortly after the incident.
Documents with different names
During a search of the apartment, police found three documents with different names and citizenships, which, according to the investigation, belonged to one person.
One of them bore the name of Alexander Adarich, while the Romanian document bore the name of Alexander Adarichi. Journalists note that the banker was associated with several holding structures in Luxembourg and other jurisdictions, so the use of different versions of his name could be related to international business activities. There is no official confirmation of this version.
Who is Alexander Adarich
Oleksandr Adarich was named one of the 100 best managers in Ukraine in 2006. He was the founder and chairman of the board of Fidobank, and previously headed Ukrsibbank.
His name has also been mentioned in connection with financial disputes and lawsuits, including an investigation into the disappearance of a significant amount of money from bank accounts and a lawsuit related to the management of business transactions at the Port of Odessa.
Italian law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation, establishing the circle of people who could have been in the apartment at the time of the incident, as well as the motives for the possible crime.
The final conclusions will be based on the results of expert examinations and analysis of surveillance camera recordings.
