Winter wheat harvesting started in Kirovograd region in late June. This year’s harvest will be significantly lower than usual, while the grain is already showing record quality. This was reported on the YouTube channel
“It doesn’t happen every year, but this year’s harvest is very poor. If every year we used to harvest an average of at least 50 centners per hectare of wheat, which is a good indicator for our region, today we have 24 centners per hectare of wheat.
But there is one “but” – the wheat is of a quality that I have never seen in all my more than 20 years of farming: both gluten and protein. Usually, our protein is kept at 13%. Now, just so you understand, the protein is at 18%, and gluten is up to 38%. This is super wheat, it’s golden wheat for bread,” the farmer said.
According to Povorozniuk, they plan to store the grain so that local residents do not experience any problems with bread.
“So even if there is a crop failure, we will store this wheat. At least my people will not have any problems with bread,” he said.
