Russia attacked the capital on Knowledge Day. In addition to the psychological effect, the enemy targeted defence facilities and the government quarter. This was stated by military and political expert, head of the Centre for Military and Legal Studies Oleksandr Musienko in an exclusive commentary to "Komersant Ukrainian" .
“As part of this attack, the government quarter was targeted. The location of our intelligence and counterintelligence facilities, their official location. These facilities were the primary target of the enemy. Secondly, Russia wanted to identify our air defence points and possibly hit them with ballistic missiles,” Oleksandr Musienko
At the same time, the attack on 2 September had a psychological factor, Musienko said. In particular, it was aimed at psychological pressure, terror, causing panic and demoralisation. The enemy also needed to create an image that they were able to penetrate our air defences, that they could provoke fires and destruction around Kyiv.
The head of the Centre for Military and Legal Studies also considers the version of “retaliatory strikes”. He says the enemy wanted to show that it has more capabilities than the 158 drones that flew into Russia the day before. However, the Russians did not succeed in achieving anything like this in Kyiv.
According to the Russian Ministry of Killing, during the attack on 2 September, they struck at energy and defence facilities where aircraft and missile weapons are manufactured and repaired. They also targeted UAV storage sites and foreign mercenaries.
As a result, the Svyatoshyn metro station, a mosque in Nyvky and a university were damaged.
The head of the Presidential Office Yermak said that there will be a response for everything and the enemy will feel it.
