Gas prices in Ukraine have hit a new annual record: the highest since June 2025

The price of natural gas on the domestic market of Ukraine has risen by 20%. As of Tuesday, the cost of the resource reached UAH 27,800 per thousand cubic meters, including VAT. This is a record high since June 2025. In currency terms, the price is $536 per thousand cubic meters excluding VAT, or €43.2/MWh.
This was reported by the consulting company Expro, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
At the same time, European countries have recorded a higher gas price of €65.5/MWh, which is a three-year high. Thus, the resource on European hubs is currently more expensive than the Ukrainian one.
Reasons for the increase
The change in price indicators is due to events in the Middle East. The military operation by the US and Iran has led to disruptions in the logistics of liquefied natural gas. Qatar has suspended fuel production, and the UAE has stopped exports due to attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The reduction in supply on the world market has triggered a jump in prices in Europe, which has directly affected Ukrainian quotations.
The domestic situation is further affected by a supply shortage. Most private extraction companies sold their March reserves back in February. The main sellers on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange are currently Ukrnafta and Ukrnaftoburinnya. The latter sold its March resources at a price of UAH 27,840 per thousand cubic meters. At the same time, there is still active demand from traders who did not secure the necessary fuel volumes for the current month in time.
