Retail prices for milk, kefir, yoghurt, butter and cheese have risen in Ukraine due to the heatwave and power outages. This was reported by the press service of the Association of Milk Producers, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Giorgi Kukhaleishvili, an analyst at the Association of Milk Produc ers, said that the rise in prices for most dairy products may be due to a reduction in the supply of dairy products from dairy processing plants to retail chains as a result of prolonged power outages during the heatwave in July.

Certain retailers returned dairy products to dairy processing plants due to the lack of storage conditions for perishable products on supermarket shelves.

In July, during prolonged power outages, refrigeration equipment was out of service and a significant amount of dairy products spoiled and were not sold.

The heatwave caused ventilation systems at dairy farms to malfunction, leading to an increase in heatstroke among cows and a decrease in their productivity. In July, milk processing companies experienced a shortage of raw milk. The use of diesel generators led to an increase in production costs, while higher purchase prices for raw milk contributed to higher prices for finished dairy products.
