Ukraine has launched the website of the National Catalog of Prices for Medicines, an online resource that should make the pricing of medicines more transparent and understandable for both patients and pharmaceutical market participants, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The Ministry of Health says that the catalog will become a key tool for monitoring state price regulation and drug procurement.

What happened

The Ministry of Health has announced the launch of an open online catalog that collects information on the maximum wholesale prices of manufacturers and importers of medicines. The data covers medicines subject to state price regulation.

The Ministry emphasizes that the new resource is designed to ensure transparency not only for consumers but also for the public procurement system.

What the catalog contains

The National Price Catalog contains detailed information about each drug, including

  • international and trade name
  • dosage form and dosage;
  • data on the manufacturer and the holder of the registration certificate
  • country of origin;
  • pharmacotherapeutic group;
  • registration number and category of the drug;
  • declared wholesale price.

What does it give to patients

For patients and consumers, the catalog provides

  • public access to information on regulated prices for medicines;
  • convenient search and filtering tools;
  • the ability to quickly compare prices by various parameters;
  • display of minimum prices for prescription drugs.

The Ministry of Health notes that this should help people better understand the cost of medicines and avoid overpayments.

For business and the market

For applicants and participants of the pharmaceutical market, the website offers

  • up-to-date information on the rules of the National Price Catalog;
  • tools for analyzing price data;
  • the ability to create structured data sets for interaction with the regulator.

The Ministry emphasizes that this will simplify work with government agencies and reduce the risks of non-transparent pricing.
