“Zelensky’s thousand” will burn up in February: who needs to spend the money urgently
20 February 07:43
Ukrainians who received 1,000 hryvnia as part of the state’s “Winter Support” program have a limited time to use the funds. Some citizens risk losing the money at the end of February 2026 if they do not spend it in time.
This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Who could lose “Zelensky’s thousand” as early as February
This applies to two categories of citizens who received funds through Ukrposhta.
The money will be canceled after the deadline for:
1. Pensioners and recipients of social benefits who receive money through Ukrposhta
For this category, UAH 1,000 was automatically added to their pension or social assistance.
2. Citizens who applied for the payment at Ukrposhta branches
These are mainly people who:
- do not use smartphones;
- do not have access to the Diya app;
- do not have bank accounts.
When the money will run out: the exact deadline
The government has officially set the deadline for using the funds as February 28, 2026.
At the same time, Ukrposhta recommends using the funds by February 25, 2026, to avoid technical delays.
After that, unused funds will be automatically canceled.
Who is not affected: who has more time
Ukrainians who received “Zelensky’s thousand” through the “Diy” app on their “National Cashback” card have more time.
For them, the deadline for using the funds is set for:
June 30, 2026.
This means that the money on bank cards will not expire in February.
What can you spend the “postal” thousand on
Funds received through Ukrposhta are not credited to a bank card. They can only be used through the postal operator’s services.
Available options:
- payment for utilities (gas, electricity, water, heating);
- purchase of medicines;
- purchase of Ukrainian-made goods;
- payment for postal services;
- newspaper and magazine subscriptions;
- donations to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
What is the Winter Support program?
The Winter Support program, known as “Zelensky’s thousand,” was introduced to help Ukrainians during the difficult economic and energy situation.
The payment of 1,000 hryvnia is intended for:
- supporting citizens;
- stimulating the economy;
- help with paying for basic needs.
What you need to do to avoid losing your money
Ukrainians who have received funds through Ukrposhta must:
- go to the post office;
- use the money by February 25–28, 2026;
- pay for available services or goods.
Otherwise, the funds will be irrevocably canceled.
