Fieldings Auctioneers in the UK sold a rare coin of Ancient Rome for 4,700 pounds sterling.
This was reported by the BBC, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
ron Walters, 76, from Kingswinford, England, found the coin last year with his metal detector near Dudley, West Midlands.
The coin, which dates back to 69 AD, is believed to be the only one of its kind to be found in the British Isles.
The coin depicts Emperor Vitellius, who ruled for only eight months during the civil war known as the “Year of the Four Emperors.”
“Finding a coin from 69 AD is incredibly rare. Most of the coins we find in this country are from the third and fourth centuries, and we’re talking about a time when gold was at its purest level,” said Mark Hannam of the auction house.
He added that the coin was purchased on Friday by a collector from Scotland for 4,700 pounds.
It is noted that the only other similar artifact found was sold under the hammer last year in Switzerland for about 50,000 pounds.
