In Chernivtsi, a teacher insulted a student for demanding to speak Ukrainian: how the official investigation ended

An internal investigation has been completed in Chernivtsi following an incident at Lyceum No. 5 Oriana, where a geography teacher insulted a student who asked her to switch to Ukrainian. As a result of the investigation, the teacher submitted a letter of resignation, and the school administration issued a corresponding order. This was reported by the director of the institution, Halyna Abramiuk, "Komersant Ukrainian".
What is known about the story
The story became public after a video of the lesson appeared on local Telegram channels. In it, the teacher speaks to the class in Russian, and when one of the students asks her to switch to the state language, she calls him a “brute.”
After that, she adds that the student will “answer the most” in class, in effect putting pressure on the child.
The publication of the video provoked a reaction from local authorities.
What the leadership of the city education department said
The head of the city’s education department, Iryna Tkachuk, said that the teacher should resign “of her own free will” and not wait for the administration’s decision. Meanwhile, the educational institution announced the start of an internal investigation, which was completed on December 1.

According to the lyceum’s management, the commission established the circumstances of the incident and prepared an act, after which the teacher submitted her resignation. The administration of the institution emphasizes that the situation was dealt with as soon as possible, given the public outcry and the inadmissibility of such behavior in the educational process.
