In June 2025, Russia occupied 556 square kilometers of Ukraine’s territory, the largest monthly advance since the beginning of the year. This is reported by the analytical OSINT project DeepState, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to analysts, this trend is a continuation of the May trend. For comparison, in November 2024, one of the most difficult periods for Ukraine, Russian troops advanced by 730 square kilometers.
The largest losses were recorded in the Novopavlivka (29% of the advance) and Pokrovske (27%) directions. Significant changes also occurred in Sumy region – about 18%.
Thus, about 75% of all territorial losses in June were in these three areas. The rest was distributed almost evenly across other sections of the frontline, with an average of 4-6% for each section.
DeepState notes that the enemy’s advance is due, in part, to a shortage of manpower on both sides. Russian troops continue to advance despite the lack of equipment, which is increasingly being replaced by motorcycles and buggies. Assaults are often carried out in groups of 1-3 infantrymen, but the total number of attacks remains high.

on July 1, Russian troops took control of the village of Kopteve and advanced to seven other settlements in Donetsk region.
