The US State Department has named a priority topic for talks with Russia

The administration of US President Donald Trump emphasizes that the ceasefire in Ukraine remains a priority in negotiations with Russia. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the US State Department.

According to Tammy Bruce, a spokesperson for the US Department, at a press conference, until there is progress on this issue, “nothing else can be discussed.”

This is how the official responded to a question from media representatives about the US position on the fact that Friday “marks 30 days since Ukraine actually signed your ceasefire agreement, and Russia refused, and has been dragging its feet ever since” and continuing to shell.

“I think everybody understands the perspective is that President Trump is involved in this. We have the best diplomats in the world, led, of course, by Secretary Rubio (Secretary of State Marco Rubio). All of our leadership, but especially President Trump and Secretary Rubio, have made it very clear publicly, very clear what is at stake when it comes to ending this situation,” Bruce said.

According to her, this is a dynamic that “cannot be resolved militarily.”

“This is a meat grinder. Nothing else can be discussed about the outcome until the shooting and killing stops,” the State Department spokesperson emphasized.

She recalled that at the NATO press conference, Rubio “made it clear that we will actually know in a few weeks whether Russia is serious” about the ceasefire.

“So we’re going to take him at his word… And I think Russia certainly needs to take this seriously… This is not going to last six months or a year or whatever. And the president has also made it clear that we want diplomacy. But the fact is that we are watching and judging how this process goes,” Bruce said.
