6 March 09:56

In January 2026, industrial production in Ukraine showed a significant decline. The industrial production index fell by 8.1% year-on-year and by 14.8% compared to December 2025.

This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

What was the industrial production index?

According to official data, the industrial production index in January 2026 was 91.9% compared to January 2025.

This means that production in the industrial sector has declined significantly over the past year.

Certain industries fell the most

The decline was recorded in almost all key sectors of industry.

In particular:

  • mining and quarrying — 90.3%
  • manufacturing — 94.0%
  • electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply — 87.3%.

The largest decline was observed in the energy sector.

Sharp decline over the month

Compared to December 2025, industrial production fell by 14.8%.

This sharp decline can be explained by seasonal factors, a decline in economic activity at the beginning of the year, and the consequences of the war.

The situation in industry in 2025

According to the State Statistics Service, the industrial production index in Ukraine decreased by 1.7% in 2025 compared to 2024.

Thus, the negative trend in industry has continued for several years in a row.

Manufacturers’ prices are also rising

Against the backdrop of falling production, industrial producer prices are rising.

According to statistics:

  • the producer price index rose to 7.3% year-on-year
  • a month earlier, this figure was 4.7%.

This indicates additional pressure on the economy and the manufacturing sector.
