There is an emergency situation in Dnipro: due to an enemy attack, the city is left without electricity, heat, and public transport

After massive Russian shelling and widespread power outages in Dnipro, a national emergency has been declared.

This was stated by the city’s mayor , Boris Filatov, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“Technically speaking, the situation in Dnipro is one of the most difficult. This is truly a national emergency,” the mayor emphasized.

According to him, electricity is gradually being restored to medical facilities, which had previously been operating using alternative power sources.

The city’s sewage system has also been restored. Currently, the left bank of the Dnipro, Filatov stressed, is being supported by alternative power sources. The water supply situation on the right bank is gradually stabilizing.

“As for heating, all boiler rooms were de-energized yesterday. We are now making every effort to restore their operation,” the mayor noted.

Buses are running in the regional center today, replacing electric transport. The city has enough fuel for several days.

In Dnipro, kindergartens are operating in shifts of four hours. Schools have extended their holidays until January 11.

In addition, DTEK said that 800,000 families in the Dnipropetrovsk region are temporarily without power after the shelling. It is noted that energy companies throughout the region are working continuously to restore power. Currently, part of the critical infrastructure has been restored.

On January 7, Russia almost completely cut off power to two regions of Ukraine – Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia. The Russians launched another attack on the energy infrastructure. In particular, Dnipro was left in a complete blackout. All thermal power plants (TPPs) and substations in the region were shut down.
