Hydrometeorological Center denies information about 20-degree frosts

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has denied the information spread by some media outlets that Ukraine will face frosts down to -20°C in the coming days. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi was exclusively informed by the press service of the institution.

“We do not expect 20-degree frosts in Ukraine in the near future. Except that in the Carpathian region in the coming nights the temperature may drop a little lower, literally to -5…-10 degrees Celsius at night. This is only in the Carpathian region,”

– reported at the Ukrainian Weather Center.

According to forecasters, in the rest of Ukraine, over the next three days, temperatures are expected to range from -2 to -8 degrees at night and from -4 to 2 degrees Celsius during the day. In the south of the country, the temperature may rise to 5 degrees today.

Weather forecast for the rest of winter

As for the forecasts for the rest of the winter, experts note that the weather is developing according to the scenario predicted by both the world’s long-term forecast centers and Ukrainian climatologists.

“They said that in winter the temperature would fluctuate from 5 to -5 degrees at night. In fact, this is how we have spent almost the first half of winter. We expect that the second half of winter will continue with the same trends,”

– ukrhydrometeorological center said.

At the same time, forecasters warn that exceptions are possible, although they are not expected in the short term. In the event of significant temperature fluctuations, they will be short-lived and will be warned in advance.
