DIU responds to “secret meeting in the Alps”

Russian propagandists are spreading disinformation about an allegedly secret meeting of Ukrainian military and government officials with representatives of the United States and the United Kingdom in the Alps. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The GUR noted that today the active phase of the subversive information campaign against Ukraine’s resilience in the war began.
“Propagandists of the highest ranks of the aggressor state of Russia, along with other numerous cesspool media resources of the Kremlin, are massively spreading disinformation about an allegedly secret meeting of Ukrainian military and government officials with representatives of the United States and the United Kingdom in the Alps,” the statement said.
According to the GUR, the lie, “cobbled together on the knee of Yevheniy Naryshkin” and branded by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), has several goals
- to increase social tension in Ukraine;
- to sow distrust within the military and political leadership of Ukraine;
- to shift public attention from the war to the elections;
- to provoke discord and reduce the ability of our state to provide armed resistance to the Russian occupiers.
“Russian special services assign a special role in the new round of information aggression against Ukraine to attacks against Ukraine’s military intelligence. In particular, they broadcast fakes about the alleged involvement of one of the servicemen of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine in drug trafficking,” the statement reads.
The DIU reminded Ukrainians of information hygiene, urged them not to spread hostile disinformation and to focus on fighting Russia wherever possible.
