In which areas are there the most vacancies and how much do job seekers want to earn

From 20 to 30 thousand hryvnias: what level of salary is most acceptable for Ukrainians. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the results of a survey by OLX Job.

OLX Work conducted a survey, interviewing more than 6 thousand Ukrainians who are looking for a job about what level of salary is acceptable to them, in what field they would like to work and what is most important when choosing a job.

The results of the survey also helped to determine what the portrait of a job seeker in Ukraine looks like today and in which regions Ukrainians are most actively looking for work. The main findings of the survey are described below.

Where Ukrainians are looking for work and how much they want to earn

From 20 to 30 thousand hryvnias – this level of salary is the most acceptable for 31% of Ukrainians. 30% of respondents said they would like to earn 30-50 thousand. For 19%, the level of 50 thousand hryvnias is acceptable. A moderate salary of 10-20 thousand is acceptable to 17% of respondents. Only 4% of respondents are ready to receive up to UAH 10 thousand.

The greatest interest among the areas of employment is in trade and sales. This is the answer of 37% of the survey participants. The second most popular area is freelancing, regardless of the industry (21%), which emphasizes the desire among Ukrainians to have a flexible schedule and the possibility of remote work. There is also considerable interest in transportation and logistics (16%), as well as manufacturing and engineering (13%). Law and consulting received the fewest responses (2% each).

Most Ukrainians continue to look for work on online platforms. 62% of respondents said that they use job services, such as OLX Job, when needed.

The second popular option is personal connections. 40% of job seekers rely on friends or recommendations. Another 22% use social media when looking for a job.

According to the survey, most job seekers are aged 35 to 44 (35%). The second largest group is 45-54 years old (21%). Ukrainians aged 25-34 are in third place (19%). Only 7% of job seekers are young people aged 18-24, and only 4% of those looking for work are under the age of 18.

The gender balance is almost equal: 51% of job seekers are men, 47% are women. Another 2% of respondents did not want to specify their gender.

Most Ukrainians looking for work are in regions with large cities that are economic centers. The largest number of Ukrainians are looking for a job in Dnipropetrovska oblast (14%), followed by Kyivska oblast (11%) and Kyiv city (almost 10%). Odesa region also has a high level of activity (7%).

Regarding job changes over the past 3 years, the majority of Ukrainians (54%) have stayed in their current field. At the same time, 28% have completely changed their profession, and another 19% have partially switched to another field. Among the reasons for leaving the previous job: 26% mentioned low salaries, 12% lost their jobs due to company downsizing or liquidation. For 10%, the reason was moving to another city or country, 9% said they had never been employed before, and 7% quit because working conditions did not meet their expectations.

Among the Ukrainians surveyed, the majority are currently employed: 39% said they are employed on a permanent basis. At the same time, almost one in five (19%) is currently unemployed and actively looking for work. In their response, 8% said they were temporarily employed, and another 7% are retired people who continue to work or are looking for work. Freelance work is the practice of 5% of respondents, and 4% are currently students.
