Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is in hospital. He has suffered kidney failure.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing sources, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Kadyrov’s kidneys have failed, and the Kremlin is urgently looking for a new leader for Chechnya,” the sources said.
The Chechen leader is currently in hospital. Members of his family, including those from other countries, have already arrived to visit him.
Recall that on New Year’s Eve, Kadyrov planned to attend a meeting of the State Council chaired by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. However, his plans were thwarted by emergency hospitalization.
According to media reports, during his visit to Moscow, Kadyrov was “barely pumped out,” after which he returned home and has not appeared in public since.
Kadyrov wants to pass on the “throne”
In 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine issued a warrant for the arrest of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. He is considered a fugitive from the pre-trial investigation authorities and is suspected of violating the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and waging an aggressive war.
In December 2024, a video appeared online showing Kadyrov talking to Ukrainian prisoners of war. Ukraine appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Artur Dobroserdov, the commissioner for persons missing under special circumstances, reported that the prisoners of war could be in Chechnya. At the same time, it has been confirmed that only some of the defenders recorded in the video remain in captivity.
Earlier, in May, Novaya Gazeta Europe reported that due to his deteriorating health, Kadyrov was preparing a successor to the post of head of Chechnya. According to the publication, his place could be taken by Ramzan Kadyrov’s son, Adam.
