Kharkiv region recorded 47 cases of theft of power equipment, which resulted in losses of UAH 17.5 million. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the press service of Kharkivoblenergo.
The problem of theft of power system elements, such as wires, transformers and transformer oil, and substation elements, has become acute in Kharkiv region.
“This has a critical impact on Kharkivoblenergo’s operations, as thefts disrupt the operation of power grids, threatening the supply of electricity to consumers, including businesses and hospitals,” the company said.
The company suffered losses of UAH 17.5 million.
“This is the amount of money needed to restore the grids, namely to lay 73 kilometres of wires on power lines where the wires were simply stolen during the war; to purchase 3.7 tonnes of transformer oil that was stolen by thieves,” the press service of Kharkivoblenergo JSC reports.
It is noted that thieves are even stealing supports and elements of transformer substations. For example, there is an example of the theft of part of the equipment of SS-110/6 – the losses amounted to UAH 8.2 million.
