The Kremlin announced trilateral talks in Geneva: what the Ukrainian side says

13 February 15:19

Russian dictator Dmitry Peskov’s press secretary announced that the next round of trilateral talks will take place on February 17-18.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian propaganda media.

“A new round of talks between Russia, the US, and Ukraine will take place on February 17-18 in Geneva,” said the Kremlin spokesman.

According to Peskov, the Russian delegation will be led by the Russian dictator’s aide Vladimir Medinsky.

What the Ukrainian president’s office says

Dmytro Litvin, communications advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, told reporters that as of today, the Ukrainian delegation is preparing for the next round of talks.

What is known about Medinsky

Former Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky selects the necessary wording for the Russian dictator.

In particular, a source close to Estonian security structures reported that Vladimir Putin has his own ideas, for example, regarding the denial of the existence of the Ukrainian state, but now Medinsky “helps to give them ideological form.”

In addition, journalists found out that Medinsky, with the help of the Russian Military-Historical Society, which he controls, conducts ideological events in the occupied territories and supports military units.

Medinsky is also in charge of instilling Kremlin ideology in schoolchildren in the post-Soviet space and publishing history textbooks.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte criticized the aggressor country’s approach to peace talks with Ukraine. According to him, instead of real dialogue, Vladimir Medinsky, who headed the Russian delegation in Istanbul last year, was engaged in “history lessons.”

Peace talks on Ukraine

We will remind you that at the end of January and beginning of February 2026, two rounds of talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia took place in Abu Dhabi. At the last meeting, according to NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, the parties discussed methods of implementing a ceasefire and monitoring the cessation of hostilities.

Reuters, citing its sources, reported that Ukraine and the US discussed the conclusion of a possible peace agreement with Russia as early as March this year. However, interlocutors believe that the timing may be delayed because the issue of territories has not been resolved.

In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly stated that the US is proposing that the parties end Russia’s war against Ukraine before the beginning of summer. He suggested that the Americans would exert diplomatic pressure in connection with this schedule.

The Ukrainian president also stressed that Kyiv is ready for negotiations in any location if it brings real results.
