The Russian side has offered the United States to organize a conversation between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump after his successful trip to the Middle East.
This was stated by the Russian dictator’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov during a briefing, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Russian media.
This is how he answered a journalist’s question about why the initiative to hold a conversation came from the Russian side right now and how the current situation in Russian-American relations differs from the one that developed after the meeting of politicians in Alaska.
“We proposed this phone conversation on the heels of President Trump’s successful trip to the Middle East,” Peskov said.
According to him, Putin wanted to congratulate Trump on this success. The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that this explains Russia’s initiative in the conversation.
The day before, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said that the phone call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump was initiated by the Russian side.
What was the phone call about?
on October 16, Trump and Putin had a conversation. The Russian dictator congratulated the US president on the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and thanked Melania Trump for her involvement in the return of Russian and Ukrainian children to their homeland.
The US President said that during his conversation with Putin, he tried to dissuade him from supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
The US president also told reporters that his second meeting with Putin should take place within two weeks. They will meet in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
