Kremlin says Putin is ready to talk to Macron

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is ready to engage in a dialogue with French President Emmanuel Macron.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian propaganda media.

“He (Macron – Ed.) said he was ready to talk to Putin. It is probably very important to recall what the president said on the direct line. He also expressed his willingness to engage in a dialog with Macron. Therefore, if there is a mutual political will, then this can only be positively assessed,” Peskov said.

What preceded it

A few days ago, Emmanuel Macron said that Europe would have to find its own way to interact directly with Putin, not through the United States, which is actively promoting peace talks.

“Either a lasting peace will be achieved, or we will find ways for Europeans to resume a dialogue with Russia – in transparency and association with Ukraine. It will be useful to talk to Vladimir Putin again,” the French president said, adding that Europe demands a seat at the table for peace in Ukraine.

It should be noted that Macron’s statement came after EU leaders decided on the morning of December 19 to provide Ukraine with a €90 billion loan for 2026-2027, abandoning the idea of confiscating Russia’s frozen assets.

It is also worth adding that on December 19, NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov met with American and European partners in Miami to discuss the US peace plan. On December 20, Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev arrived in the United States and also met with the American side on the topic of Ukraine. He says that the discussions are constructive and that the talks will continue for two days in a row.

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that America had proposed a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia at the level of national security advisors. The head of state supported this idea.
