About fifty buildings remain without heating in Kyiv
17 January 10:12
As of Saturday morning, January 17, approximately 50 high-rise buildings in Kyiv remain without heating.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a Telegram post by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
“Currently, about 50 out of 6,000 buildings remain without heat after the enemy’s attack on Kyiv’s critical infrastructure on January 9,” Klitschko said.
According to him, city services continue to work 24/7 to restore infrastructure damaged by the enemy in order to provide Kyiv residents with the necessary services.
Heating problems in Kyiv
In early January, a series of Russian attacks on Kyiv’s energy facilities damaged critical infrastructure, leading to emergency power cuts in the capital.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, as of the morning of January 16, there were no buildings in the city without a constant power supply, but about 127 buildings were still without heating.
Due to freezing systems, numerous breaks in heating mains in apartment buildings have been recorded, with damage reported in almost all districts of Kyiv.
The Kyiv City State Administration emphasizes that installing generators is the best solution for high-rise buildings with their own engineering infrastructure, where problems with heat supply arise during power outages.
In addition, on January 14, Ukraine declared a state of emergency in the energy sector after a series of massive Russian strikes on energy facilities.
In this regard, the authorities decided to partially ease the curfew – citizens were allowed to move around at night, but only to get to the “Points of Invincibility.”
