In Kyiv’s Obolon district, a group of unidentified young men attacked members of the Jewish community near a synagogue using tear gas. One of the victims suffered severe burns to his eyes and skin.

This was reported by the Kyiv police and the Obolon Jewish community, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Law enforcement officers learned about the incident from social media. According to the published report, a group of young men, being near the synagogue building, began shouting anti-Semitic slogans and demonstrating Nazi salutes, and later used gas against one of the community members.

“When they saw the man wearing a kippah and tzitzit, the guys poured tear gas from two canisters on him and hid. The man suffered severe burns to his eyes and skin. It was a targeted, brutal and prepared anti-Semitic act! After all, just last night a group of young men near our synagogue were jeering and shouting anti-Semitic slogans when they saw the rabbi,” the Obolon Jewish community reported

The police are currently conducting an investigation, identifying all the participants and deciding on the legal classification of the incident.
