Kyiv will finally change traffic during alarms

Kyiv will soon change the mode of public transportation during air raids. This was announced by KMIA spokesman Yevhen Ievlev in the studio of News.live, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

As you know, Kyiv is currently the only regional center in the country where ground public transport stops during air alerts. At the same time, minibuses are running. So, during an air alert, citizens are forced to use this mode of transportation, and the owners of the routes receive additional income.

Kyiv residents are constantly complaining about this situation – even in frontline cities like Kharkiv or Zaporizhzhia, public transportation works during alarms. However, Mayor Klitschko stubbornly refuses to restore normal traffic.

Instead, the head of the KMDA , Timur Tkachenko, is ready to replace him. According to his spokesperson, the official held meetings with the State Emergency Service, law enforcement, and Kyiv’s defense forces to understand the feasibility of such a decision.

“It’s no secret that not all transport stopped, although it should have stopped, because a decision was made that all public transport should have stopped. There is a position that this is a completely wrong decision. Proposals have been developed, and the decision will also be submitted to the Defense Council,”

– says spokesman Ievlev.

According to him, it follows that public transport drivers will decide for themselves whether to continue working during the alert.

“The bottom line is that the carrier will make the decision: first, to get to the nearest stop. Secondly, it is the driver who will decide whether to stop the vehicle and go to the shelter with the people or continue driving. That is, everything has been done to avoid a collapse near bridges and in the subway,”

– said the KCIA spokesman.

As reported by , on the eve of the New Year, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Artur Tkachenko as the new head of the KCIA. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko accused him of blocking key economic issues and trying to take over the mayor’s powers.

“The new head of the KCSA, who has no military education or experience and has replaced combat generals, is blocking the resolution of key economic issues. Restoration of damaged buildings, compensation to affected residents, restoration of infrastructure and others. This destabilizes the city’s governance and threatens the life support of the capital. At the same time, the head of the KCSA is trying to take over the powers of the mayor, city council and KCSA, violating the law,”

– this is how the mayor described the situation.

In response, Tkachenko promised to introduce a “working group on transparency and accountability” despite the resistance of the city authorities, although he did not explain what this meant.
