22 January 10:26

As of the morning of January 22, just under 3,000 high-rise buildings in Kyiv remain without heat. Work is underway to connect the heating system.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram.

“As of this morning, just under 3,000 high-rise buildings in the capital remain without heat. Last night, heat was connected to 270 buildings. This was done for the second time after the infrastructure was damaged by enemy attacks on January 9 and 20,” the mayor wrote.

He also said that emergency power cuts continue in Kyiv. Utility and energy workers are working around the clock to restore electricity and heat supply.

According to preliminary data, heating will be restored within two days.

Recent attacks on the capital

After the night strikes on January 9 and 12, a critical situation arose in Kyiv with regard to electricity and heat supply. Due to significant damage, the city had to completely restart the heating system.

Hundreds of thousands of Kyiv residents were left without light and heat for many days, and only in recent days have most consumers begun to receive heating and partial electricity supply again.

However, on the night of January 20, another massive rocket and drone strike by Russian troops further complicated the situation in the capital.

As a result of the large-scale attack, thousands of homes in Kyiv were left without heating in freezing temperatures of -15°C.
