In 2025, 49 apartment buildings in Kyiv sustained serious damage, twice as many as in previous years of full-scale war. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration with reference to the Department of Construction and Housing, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 3,129 objects have been damaged in the capital, including 2,134 apartment buildings, including 957 in 2025.
Currently, 88 buildings are on the list of the most affected, some of which are recognized as potentially hazardous. Residents of 49 of these buildings had to be relocated – all of them were damaged this year.
The restoration is being carried out by the utility company Zhytloinvestbud-UCB, which prepares project documentation, expert assessments, and contracts with contractors. Work has already been completed at 25 sites, repairs are underway at seven more, and the rest are at the preparation stage.
The Kyiv City State Administration emphasizes that the restoration of destroyed housing is a priority for the city authorities. After shelling, the services promptly close damaged windows and balconies, provide materials, and repair roofs. They also set up help centers in the city to provide legal and psychological support and help people apply for financial assistance.
As part of the program “Care. Towards Kyivites” program, victims can receive a one-time payment of UAH 10 thousand, and in case of loss of housing – UAH 40 thousand for rent and a monthly allowance of UAH 20 thousand until housing is restored (for a maximum of one year).
In addition, anyone whose home was damaged can receive compensation under the state program “eVodnovlennya” through the Diia app.
As a reminder, on July 31, Russia launched a combined attack on Kyiv with drones and missiles. Thirty-two people were killed.
