“Base 4.5.0” opens in Kyiv – a space of emotional support for people and dogs
14 May 14:38
On May 17, 2025, Kyiv will host the grand opening of Base 4.5.0, a unique space in Muromets Park that aims to improve the mental health of Ukrainians, especially military personnel and veterans. This innovative project is aimed at developing canine sports, popularizing canine therapy, and providing support for people in need of psycho-emotional assistance, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
In the context of economic instability and military conflict, support for mental health is becoming critically important. The Base 4.5.0 space will provide a variety of opportunities for psychological support, rehabilitation and resocialization of the military. One of the key methods is canisterapy, which helps to reduce anxiety and alleviate PTSD symptoms.
“Today, Ukraine has a significant shortage of certified canine therapy dogs, and the demand for emotional support is only growing. We have created K-9. Base 4.5.0 to change this situation,” says Yulia Tsepun, head of the Base 4.5.0 IRC.
Garden therapy will also be introduced in the space to help participants regain inner peace and control. Gardening and natural creativity will help to improve psychological health.
“Garden therapy is one of the most accessible methods of rehabilitation and resocialization of the military,” says project author Tetiana Vysotska.
The space will include activities aimed at improving the psycho-emotional state of Ukrainians, educational lectures, and dog training classes for young people, contributing to the formation of a conscious pet-friendly culture in Ukraine.
“We want young people to grow up in a culture where the dog is a partner in sports and development,” emphasizes Kateryna Shershneva, K-9 Base 4.5.0 project manager.
On the occasion of the opening of Base 4.5.0, a large-scale presentation of the project will take place, including an introduction to the team, lectures on emotional support, demonstrations, competitions, and awards.
We invite everyone to join the celebration and learn more about the possibilities of supporting mental health with Base 4.5.0.
