Kyiv has introduced a strict blackout schedule. Businesses were told to prepare for the worst

4 June 2024 14:40

on 4 June, Kyiv will be subject to strict power outage schedules throughout the day. In particular, electricity will be cut off in the “grey zone” of the schedule, which has not yet happened during the blackouts in 2024. This was announced by Yasno CEO Serhiy Kovalenko, reports [Kommersant]

“Tomorrow, 4 June, we will have stabilisation periods again, with more restrictions than today – 26% for Kyiv. The light grey zone of the schedules will be used. There are also blackouts in the light grey slots now,”

– he wrote.

The reason for the introduction of strict blackout schedules is the planned repair of two nuclear power units and the line that imports electricity from Slovakia.

As has learned from its own sources, labour collectives in the capital have already been warned of long-term power outages throughout the week.

According to DTEK’s schedules, each guaranteed blackout in Kyiv will last up to 4 hours in a row, with the possibility of extending it for another three hours. Guaranteed electricity will be supplied only for 2 hours a day. The blackouts will last throughout the day.

For example, one of the capital’s streets will be without electricity for at least 9-12 hours a day, and possibly for all 18 hours.
