Clandestine alcohol production workshop exposed in Kyiv: UAH 1.6 million worth of counterfeit goods seized

Detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (BES) have stopped the activities of a group of people who have set up illegal production and sale of counterfeit alcoholic beverages in Kyiv. This was reported by the BES press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The BES noted that the offenders produced alcohol without any permits and sold the finished products through retail outlets in the capital.
Such actions not only harmed the health of citizens, but also led to significant losses to the state budget.
What was found during the searches
During the authorized searches of the premises where the counterfeit was manufactured and stored, detectives seized
- equipment for mass production of alcohol;
- 13,900 liters of finished counterfeit products;
- 1,800 liters of ethyl alcohol;
- draft accounting books, mobile phones and computer equipment with evidence of illegal activity.
The total value of the seized alcohol, raw materials and equipment is estimated at over UAH 1.6 million.
Criminal proceedings
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- ч. 1 of Art. 204 – illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation of excisable goods;
- ч. 1 of Art. 209 – legalization (laundering) of the proceeds of crime.
Forensic examinations have been ordered, and the investigation is ongoing.
The detectives are currently identifying all participants of the scheme and organizers of the clandestine production.
