Heating restoration delayed in Kyiv: nearly 2,000 high-rise buildings still without heating

In Kyiv, 1,940 high-rise buildings remain without heat after Russian attacks.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a Telegram post by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

“As of this morning, 1,940 high-rise buildings remain without heat, which will be reconnected for the second time after enemy attacks on January 9 and 20,” Klitschko said.

According to him, most of the buildings without heat are on the left bank of the city, in the Pecherskyi district, and some are in the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts.

“In other words, overnight, utility and energy workers began supplying heat to more than 650 buildings. And they continue to work,” the mayor added.

Recent attacks on the capital

After the night strikes on January 9 and 12, a critical situation arose in Kyiv with regard to electricity and heat supply. Due to significant damage, the city had to completely restart the heating system.

Hundreds of thousands of Kyiv residents were left without light and heat for many days, and only in recent days have most consumers begun to receive heating and partial electricity supply again.

However, on the night of January 20, another massive rocket and drone strike by Russian troops further complicated the situation in the capital.

As a result of the large-scale attack, thousands of homes in Kyiv were left without heating in freezing temperatures of -15°C.

It should be noted that partners are helping to restore power supplies in Kyiv after the Russian shelling. In particular, the capital and the communities around it will receive 400 generators of various types from Poland.

In addition, two more cogeneration plants will arrive in Kyiv from Germany next week, which will simultaneously produce electricity and heat.
