Scandal over Russian music at Frou Frou restaurant in Kyiv: how the establishment explained its position

23 February 06:12

The European cuisine restaurant Frou Frou is introducing new rules whereby guests will be required to sign an agreement prohibiting Russian music when organizing banquets. This was stated in a statement by the restaurant on Instagram on Sunday, February 22, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Representatives of the restaurant explained that a private banquet was held at the establishment, where guests played Russian music on their phones. After this information was reported to the administrator, the guests were asked to turn off the song.

“This is the official position of the restaurant team — we operate exclusively within the framework of the current legislation of Ukraine. After this situation, we are also introducing an additional practice: when organizing banquets, guests will sign an agreement prohibiting the use of Russian music to prevent similar cases in the future,” the statement said.

It should be noted that in her Threads account, visitor Solomiya Kashchiy reported that on the evening of February 21, she was relaxing with her friends at the Frou Frou restaurant. According to her, after dinner, near the restroom, they heard Russian songs coming from the neighboring hall. Kashchiy entered the hall and indignantly asked the waiter why Russian music was playing.

“In response, he said, ‘We’re having a private party.’ I said that we are not in a closed country and why should I have to witness this shit in a public place? He told me that he was in a closed (country). I said that I was very sorry that he thought that way. I went out to call the police. I couldn’t get through. Meanwhile, the manager approached us. She started saying that she didn’t know what was going on there, etc.,” the visitor wrote.

Kashchiy did not post the video of the conversation and the Russian music, but she did publish a recording of the conversation with the company already on the street.
