Investigations into a series of arson attacks in London that could be targeted at the country’s new Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, are ongoing in the UK. Police have detained a 21-year-old man on suspicion of deliberate arson with intent to endanger life.
This was reported by theBBC with reference to the London police, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The incident occurred on the morning of May 12 in the Kentish Town area of north London. The fire engulfed the front door of a house associated with Starmer, but it was quickly localized in about 20 minutes. No one was injured, although part of the building was damaged.
Earlier, on May 11, rescuers received a report of a fire at the door of another apartment in Islington, also a property with ties to the prime minister. On May 8, a car caught fire on the same street. Police are currently checking whether all these cases are related.
The case is under the supervision of the anti-terrorist unit. The investigation is considering the possibility of targeted pressure or intimidation of the country’s political leader.
The official residence of the Prime Minister is located at 10 Downing Street. Starmer was not in any of these buildings at the time of the incidents.
