Needles were found in meat for the military: DOT to conduct checks

Needles were found in frozen meat supplied to the Ukrainian military. According to one version, water was added to the chicken to increase its weight. This was reported on his Facebook page by Hennadiy Kryvosheya, a member of the Public Anti-Corruption Council at the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“The military found this needle in frozen chicken. I wonder what the supplier Mit Prom will say about this? As for me, it only confirms that the chicken is a ‘drug addict’…? All products are currently being prepared for return. The services of the Ministry of Defence are working out the problem. I ask the DOT – the State Logistics Operator – to take appropriate response measures and revise the contract with the supplier,” wrote Kryvosheya.
In the comments to Kryvoshei’s Facebook post, the State Logistics Operator noted that this situation became possible because the descriptions of the goods for which the DOT makes purchases currently do not contain a norm on the permissible level of water in meat.
“We have already initiated these changes and sent our developments to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. As for this case. An investigation will be conducted. The entire batch was recalled,” the DOT said.
They also added that the contract provides for a 20% fine for the supplier for the entire returned batch of meat.
Kryvosheya asked the DOT whether it was possible to terminate the contract with the supplier or ban it from supplying products to the Armed Forces.
In response, the DOT cited a recent situation where a military supplier was found to have supplied low-quality canned food.
“Operational and economic sanctions were imposed on the supplier Trade Granit Invest in connection with the commission of dishonest actions, namely the use of a cancelled quality protocol. In case of supply of substandard products, the supplier is obliged to replace the batch within 48 hours and is subject to a fine of 20% of the value of the recalled batch,” the DOT said.
It is known that the military constantly complain about the quality of food in the Armed Forces, which often does not meet the established standards. Another confirmation of this fact was found by NGL.media journalists, who in their investigation documented that instead of meat, the military receive canned meat with skin and tendons.
Meanwhile, the State Logistics Operator, which is responsible for supplying food to the Armed Forces, has for the first time classified data on food purchases.
