The sixth round of the Ukrainian Media League (UA STEEL LEAGUE) match between Ultimate and Armat (5:3) took place in Kyiv.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
At the beginning of the second half of the match, an unusual situation occurred when the head referee showed a blue card to Armat player Serhiy Donets. According to the commentator, the referee imposed a disciplinary sanction on the player for using the Russian language. The 30-year-old midfielder had to leave the field for five minutes without the right to be replaced.
Serhiy Donets is known to be a former professional footballer who previously played for FC Nikopol. His team, Armat, is positioned as Dnipro’s first media team, founded in 2018. Ultimate Media Football Club is a Kyiv-based media team that participates in UA Steel League tournaments.
Last year, former Ukraine national team striker Yevhen Seleznyov got into a conflict during a match in the media football league. The footballer got into a heated discussion with 16-year-old blogger Renat Popruzhny (Renepro), who made a remark to him, probably because he was speaking Russian.
Subsequently, the young footballer who made the remark to Seleznyov about the language was expelled from the team. Yevhen himself then gave an explanation about the language scandal.
