Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry knows nothing about Danilov’s appointment as ambassador to Norway

It has been reported that Oleksiy Danilov, who was dismissed from his post as NSDC secretary today, will take up a diplomatic job. However, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has no information about Danilov’s appointment as ambassador, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports.

After Danilov’s dismissal, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko and the well-known Telegram channel Joker, which is close to the Presidential Office, reported that Danilov would become ambassador to Norway.

“Danilov will go to Norway as ambassador,”

– Joker said in a statement.

“Danilov is going to be an ambassador. He went to Norway,”

– Goncharenko wrote.

Kommersant Ukrainian https://www.komersant.info/ asked the Foreign Ministry’s press service for comment.

“Have you seen the presidential decree? I have not. I have no other information, I know nothing,”

– the Foreign Ministry’s press service said.

It should be noted that there is currently no official information on the appointment of Danilov as ambassador to Norway.

Today, on 22 March, the President signed a decree dismissing Oleksiy Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council.

Danilov had served as NSDC Secretary since 3 October 2019.

Military expert Oleh Zhdanov told Kommersant Ukrainian https://www.komersant.info/ said that the dismissal of Oleksiy Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council could be the President’s own initiative. Danilov himself has never been a member of the Presidential Office team, which is why it was decided to dismiss him.

Instead, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, who was previously the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, became the new Secretaryof the NSDC.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the candidacy of Valeriy Zaluzhnyi for the post of Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK.

The British side must now give formal consent (agrimony) to his appointment.

The President believes that the appointment of Valeriy Zaluzhnyi as Ambassador of Ukraine should strengthen Ukraine’s alliance with the UK.

Former Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko believes that Valeriy Zaluzhnyi can be a very effective ambassador to the UK due to his military experience.
