On the night of January 2, Ukraine exported electricity to Moldova to help it cope with the energy crisis caused by the suspension of Russian gas transit through Ukraine. This was reported by the Moldovan edition of NewsMaker, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The publication’s report referred only to the supply of electricity on January 2. It is not yet known whether such agreements will continue.

As reported by , Transnistria found itself in an energy crisis due to Ukraine’s suspension of Russian gas transit. Moldova claimed that it had prepared for such a step by Ukraine, including purchasing enough gas from Europe to get through the heating season. However, as it turned out, there was not enough gas for power generation.
The situation is complicated by the fact that there is a limit on electricity transmission capacity on the Moldovan-Romanian border – only 315 MW out of the required 650-800 MW. Therefore, yesterday Moldova agreed to purchase electricity from Ukraine’s Energoatom. The peculiarity of this agreement is that the supply took place at night, when the Ukrainian side has a surplus of energy for export.
Meanwhile, Moldova’s governmental emergency commission has already reported on the successful overcoming of the energy deficit that arose after the cessation of Russian gas supplies. In particular, on January 1, it managed to fully meet the country’s electricity needs from various sources, while avoiding the need to introduce rolling blackouts.
