Today, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, and Mykola Solsky, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. [ Kommersant] asked the MPs what to expect from the government’s personnel policy in the near future and whether there are already candidates to replace the dismissed officials.
However, the MPs interviewed by have not heard anything about who might replace Kubrakov and Solsky. Instead, everyone is talking about another possible restructuring of ministries. Perhaps that is why the government is in no hurry to submit candidates to the Rada. At the same time, there is talk of both splitting and merging ministries.
“There are discussions about merging the ministries, possibly again into the Ministry of Economy, as it was before. The Ministry of Infrastructure is planned to be split: the Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Reconstruction, which will take over the entire infrastructure. The candidates are not yet known,”
– commented Mykhailo Tsymbalyuk, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy and Veterans’ Rights.
At the same time, if the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine is split up, Kubrakov may become the head of the hypothetical “Ministry of Recovery”.
“As far as I understand, we are talking about splitting the two ministries back. At least, this is the argumentation that was voiced in the Rada. Then, probably, Kubrakov can return to his previous ministerial position. But I can’t say for sure,”
– said MP Georgii Mazurashu.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine was created by renaming the Ministry of Infrastructure and merging it with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development in December 2022. Prior to this reform, Kubrakov was the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Judging by the fact that MPs are only guessing about the government’s future steps, this process is far from over. According to Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, chairman of the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech, the absence of any submissions from the government means that Solsky and Kubrakov’s duties will be performed by their deputies for the time being, and no personnel changes should be expected before the end of May.
