The US National Security Council is being purged: those involved in Russia’s war in Ukraine are also being checked

The new US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz has authorized a “full vetting” of dozens of career officials working in the White House who are involved in the issues of Iranian and North Korean nuclear proliferation, cyber espionage, and Russia’s war in Ukraine. This was reported by The Washington Post, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
As explained by National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes, this step is aimed at ensuring that the National Security Council staff is “committed to implementing President Trump’s America First agenda to protect U.S. national security and use American tax dollars wisely.”
As noted, the decision to inspect employees was made so suddenly that some career officials could not even physically leave the White House complex because their passes did not work.
The officials were told that they could only return if their supervisors, senior directors appointed by the Trump administration, informed them.
The Washington Post notes that dozens of officials who were sent home on Wednesday were appointed to the National Security Council from other government agencies, including the CIA, National Security Agency, State Department and Pentagon.
The publication suggests that Waltz made such a tough decision after criticism from Trump’s aides, who believed that he planned to keep most of the NSC staff. The next day, Waltz wrote on Platform X: “Anyone who works under President Trump’s leadership at the NSC will be fully aligned with his ‘America First’ agenda.
As you know, the day before, there was information that all employees in the Pentagon who were responsible for cooperation with Ukraine had allegedly been fired or transferred to other positions. This was reported by Ukrainian journalist Roman Bochkala with reference to a journalist from The Washington Post.
