Rada to check spending on fortifications and drones

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has set up a temporary special commission to review the costs of building fortifications and the drone programme. About this "Komersant Ukrainian" was informed by the Verkhovna Rada’s apparatus.
To this end, the deputies adopted Resolution No. 11282 “On the establishment of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the use of state budget funds allocated for the construction of fortifications and engineering barriers on the contact line, as well as for the manufacture and purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles for military units and subdivisions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine.”
“The vote was taken by 277 MPs in favour.
The explanatory note to the draft resolution states that UAH 60 billion has been allocated from the state budget for drone-related programmes and UAH 40 billion for the construction of fortifications along the contact line and the border with Russia and Belarus.
The parliament believes that there is an urgent need to check the use of these funds “in order to develop legislative proposals aimed at improving the manageability of the use of public funds, ensuring accountability and control of this process”.
Mykola Zadorozhnyi of the Servant of the People faction was appointed as the head of the PIC, and Mykhailo Tsymbalyuk of the Fatherland party was appointed as his deputy. The commission also includes Andriy Bohdanets, Yelyzaveta Bogutska, Mykhailo Bondar, Vitaliy Bort, Anatoliy Burmich, Oleksandr Horeniuk, Oleksiy Zhmerenetskyi, Roman Kostenko, Dmytro Kostiuk, Ihor Marchuk, Serhiy Minko, Serhiy Rudyk, and Oleksandr Fedienko.
The commission was set up for a full year, and MPs plan to hear the first report no later than in six months.
